What did you want to be when you were younger?

You know the path that I’m on in life right now compared to where I thought I was gonna be in elementary school or high school is vastly different. I loved math when I was younger. All the way up to high school really. I legit wanted to be a math professor. I wanted to go to MIT, graduate from there, and start teaching there. Then, junior year hit when you start applying to colleges. I realized that that’s just not going to be for me.  I realized that I wanted to have a career where I’d be able to move around, freely express myself, and interact with people on a different level than I would as a teacher. I also just stopped liking math at some point. I don’t know what happened, but it wasn’t for me anymore. So, I gravitated towards fitness. An that’s what I’m doing currently.

Describe your perfect day.

Alright. Waking up any time after 9 am. I hate waking up early in the morning. I do it for clients, but if it’s just a regular day I’m waking up around 9/10 o’clock. I usually have a set routine that I like to do where I wake up, make my bed, wash my face, brush my teeth, all that. Start off with a smoothie to get some fruit in and then probably hit the gym. After that, eat. I love eating, so any type of filling breakfast after the gym. After that, I don’t know. I like to be active so my whole day would be spent with me doing different activities: Whether it be rock climbing, hitting up a gymnastics gym and getting some work in over there. Then coming home, showering, lighting some incense, and just chilling.

How would you describe success?

Success for me is doing something that fulfills you. I don’t think its monetary. I don’t necessarily equate success to money. If I do earn a high wage but I’m doing something that I don’t feel fulfilled in or dread going to daily, I don’t think that’s me being successful in life. I want to do something that feels like it’s fulfilling a purpose for me. Something that I feel like I can grow in.

What activities make you lose track of time?

Typically, nowadays when I’m recording videos for YouTube or Instagram. Just fitness type videos. I’ll be in the gym actually doing my workout but, just the process of recording everything. I’ve legit been in the gym for three hours at a time just recording. If I have people with me, even better. Time will fly. Same thing with rock climbing. I’ll be up there climbing walls literally for two to three hours. Until I can’t grip the wall anymore because my hands are done.

What food best describes you?

Ah man. I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t say peanut butter. I don’t think there’s a moment in my life since I’ve been eating whole foods that peanut butter was not in my diet. I want to say that since high school I don’t think there’s been a day where I’ve gone without eating peanut butter. And that’s no joke.

Why I say peanut butter? Other than me just loving it? It’s a food that goes with almost everything. It’s a good spread, you can put it in smoothies, you can add it into different foods for sauces. Its versatile and gets the job done.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

I guess for me it would be super selfish. I know some people would want to heal people and stuff, but mine would be kind of like Wolverine. The self-regeneration thing. That is just super convenient. Especially for me who like to work out. My muscles could just recover on a daily basis and I could get back in the gym. For convenience’s sake, that would the most useful for me now. Plus, you stay younger and healthier longer so I would definitely go with super regeneration.

You’re building a playground for adults. What’s one thing that has to be in it?

As a classic, you got to have monkey bars. I feel like no playground is complete without monkey bars. That’s like the introduction for most kids, and as adults you can still have fun going across them.

How have you changed in the past five years?

I’ve done a lot of self-reflection in terms of my own personal growth. During COVID and quarantine, just being by myself more kind of put my priorities into perspective. I feel like I’ve become more disciplined in terms of scheduling and creating goals. Things that I definitely wasn’t doing before. Or I just wasn’t putting as much attention towards. Now I feel like I’m in a good groove where I’m putting things together more carefully, looking more long term at how things can affect me, and just navigating it like that.

If there was one thing you’d want people to know, what would it be?

I guess a brief synopsis of who Mikah is would be a dynamic person. A lot of my goals in life currently in terms of where I see myself in the future or how I live day-to-day are forever moving around and changing. I have a set plan and goal that I want to accomplish, but I’m free for things to change over time. My biggest thing right now is fulfilling my purpose. Doing things that I find meaning in, and directing my attention and energy towards those things. Right now, a big thing of mine is being intentional in whatever I do.

What motivates you get up in the morning?

I genuinely enjoy what I’m doing right now in terms of being a personal trainer: interacting with clients, making videos, and just growing my presence on social media and stuff like that. It’s just something to look forward to. Even my own progression in the gym as an athlete. Just being able to go through the days and know you’re working towards something. But, also working with others and seeing the satisfaction on their faces when they achieve their goals. That type of thing just keeps me going for sure.

If you could travel to one place in the world all expenses paid for 24 hours, where would you go and why?

That’s a hard one for me. My first thought would be Japan. Mainly because everything that I’ve ever seen in Japan just looks dope in terms of the culture and the whole scene. I like anime as well and that’s huge in Japan. Also, trying the food. That would be a big culture shock for me. I love eating, so that would be one of the main things I’d look forward to there as well.
